Warning!!!!!! This is a loooong one, read for your own sanity.

so i got on a discussion forum of one of the most highly anticipated warrior chat every 2nd monday of the month (this is a special privelege for those people who have been playing a warrior class since day 1 which EQ has kept on track) read carefully =). i also changed the name for the anonimity of others as this is a 'secretive' association within developers and players involving the warrior class, this way, they have a nice feedback what they should have to fix bugs etc. there is also the same type of chat for every class, however, they are extremely picky as to who can join the channel. I have been granted by Mike Fraham, senior lead warrior programmer, back in Planes of power era, to at least post this up, only to protect the names of the players for their confidentiality. Also, i will skim thru some of the questions, as to we tend to get rowdy in the chat channel and be really obnoxious and rude lol. so i will point out some of the major details

SLP Warrior Class: Welcome to this month's general chat. I urge every feedback you have to be quite unique in it's own ways. Please, i will answer your question one by one, so i need your cooperation and patience. Thank you.

EQplayer1: Sup mikey!

Paul (me): (yes i know dont even say anything lol) whats this nights discussion about?

SLP Warrior Class: We have quite a few feedback last month about Warrior Class not having enough priveleges to get their own class-specific shields. Though, i may agree, i am quite sorry to say, that this will not change in the future. Reasons being this notification is that, Warrior class only VERY often use the shield as their secondary item, as comparision to Knight Classes, which are more proned to use their shield most of the time.

EQplayer8: that's absurd dont you think? we warriors also use shields as part of our defense mechanism. for instance, we use shield for Off Rampage/Rampage Tank, 1st/2nd tank in order for us to buff out more shielding and AC out there. we may loose a lil bit of DPS, but it's still a nice one to have.

SLP Warrior Class: I completely understand. I do sympathize for you, seeing we also, specially me, use the shield a lot on primary opening/beta testing of a new expansion. It maybe sad, but it's something we can live without to be honest.

Paul (me): youre likely right, but dont you think for once we should get a shield that doesnt have the other classes in it? lol it's kind of ridiculous to see some people go complain to you, specially knight classes (sorry about this knight classes) because you wanted to bid on a shield who has a 95ac. they always say and this is for a lot of guild and guild officers, that we warriors shouldnt outbid any kngiht classes for shield items because they use it more. well i say its BS, then they shouldnt or we shouldnt get the nkight classes their epic 1.5/2.0 because those are 2hander and they dont use shield on that

SLP Warrior Class: Youre right and i do see your point. But some knights do not have the privelege on getting their 1.5/2.0's dont you think?

Paul (me): then why should they even work on epic 1,5/2.0 when they are on a raiding guild. reason being they are working on 1.5 and 2.0 is because they are on a raiding guild with the capability of handling epic raid situations.

SLP Warrior Class: WOW! That is something i have overlooked. Thanks for the feedback and maybe next month i can have a thorough analysis for you.

Eqplayer6: Next question, when is the ripostle mod ever gonna be fixed?

Paul (me): since TSS? lol they fixed that, a while ago.

SLP Warrior Class: Yes, We had a discussion about this and what we should do about it. We also discussed during that time of the addition of the new HP Modifier AA's, seeing it's been a while since a real good one actually showed in the aa selection.

Eqplayer1 (aka "oh annoying one"): so whats the new feature we warriors should have guys?

Paul (me): i wanna ask about "shielding modification" since DoDH, we've never increased the maximum modifier, do you think we should have a new one?

Eqplayers4: i think ogres should have horns and trolls should have uglier feature lol

Eqplayer12:hahah you guys suck!!!

SLP Warrior Class: The shielding modification is currently and is now being investigated. Thanks for bringing it up. Is there any Feedback or see any glitches on your games?

EQplayer7: what about the taunt modifiers? you guys gonna fix that too?

SLP Warrior Class: Yes we are actually working on giving more Taunt Modifier increaser on any Warrior-only specific gears/weapons.

this concludes pretty much everything, the rest of the chat area was farting and laughing and making fun of Eqplayer1 lol. otherwise, feedback would be nice. let me know what you think guys that way next month i can bring up these issues to the Senior Lead programmer.

Interesting Topic Indeed

If you notice, nearly all of the leading tanks viewable on the EQ Players leaderboard are equipped with shields. To think this is just an anomaly is definitely incorrect.
Just further evidence that some of the Devs., more so now than ever before, don't have a clue how to play the classes that they are itemizing.

well...

i personally use shield when im Main Tank on a raid. there are a few advantage of it, though people tend to overlook it because of lack of DPS output and sometime aggro situation. but let me explain some of my points

1: i use a shield personally (preferably with 150+hp and 70ac at least, one good example is the Dain 1 MM with EJ MM hp aug). though it may not help on my part due to the fact that i will loose some of DPS and aggro proc (off hand basis) it does help on damage mitigation, this helps a lot for clerics to be able tfor their heals to land to us. besides, bash can be worked by training bashing your mobs, it wouldnt hurt lol.

now, as for a lil help on how to maintain agrro, all you need is AE Taunt, Bazu then the 75 TSS Anger disc (forgot the name) then use shield, clicky 1.5 then use defensive disc and youre golden lol

yea its definaly worth it

yea its definaly worth it while raiding cause your there to take hits not to do much DPS. and at 75 with decent gear and with anger augs/discs you should have no problem holding aggro with a shield. especially if you have a shield with bash  effect. katsu you just suck thats why no one listens to you Smiling <3 see you in game soon i hope slacker.
