The Tale of Grriffon The Rogue --- a Halfling who thinks he's an Ogre :

To date, Grriffon is in his 44th season, but we shall come to recent travels in time. The best place to start is the beginning, and this is it.

Young Grriffon was born in the Halfling town of Rivervale. A very charming, quiet town, with all the cozy comforts anyone could wish for. Many a Hobbit spent their days in front of the fire in their Hobbit Holes or sharing an Ale downat the Fool's Gold Inn, or even fishing with the old Dock Keeper down at the docks. To these Hobbits, this was the life! There could not be more to life than this, and if there was, they wanted nothing of it.

Grriffon was born to two such parents. They had never traveled more than 2 or 3 zones from homes, and didnt care to. They thought adventure was for something in fairy tales, or maybe for those odd travelers that passed through from time to time. Their sons on the other hand, were an entirely different story.

Around April, 3471, of the Hobbit Calendar, David and Vickie Hobbit gave birth to Giffon, their first son. He was soon to have a younger brother by the name of Grriffon.

Giffon allways seemed "close" to nature, and it was no suprise when he joined the Druid Guild in Rivervale, although his parents tried to tell him adventure was for outsiders. He beleived some of this himself, and still to this day has not passed more than 42 seasons as a Druid ok Karana. He mainly whiles away the time in RIvervale, doing the occasional Port for some spening money. But we will not speak of him today, we will tell the story of his more......"black sheepish" brother, Grriffon, whose story is still being written.

Hope this is a good Background, a Starting Point i guess. I've never done much writing, and am just doing this in those darn insomnia hours.

---The Continuing Tales of Grriffon The Rogue---

When we last left, we mentioned how Grriffon's parents didnt care for the fact that Giffon, his older brother, had become a Druid and decided to leave home. While they didnt much like it, they didnt ENTIRELY disapprove, either. They themselves wanted no part in "adventures" but they knew that a Druid was a VERY respectable Class for a Hobbit to join, and they were somewhat proud of their FIRST son....

Grriffon, however, was a pain from birth on......

Even when the 2 brothers were little Hobbit-boys, Grriffon seemed somewhat "different". He would allways steal his brothers toys, or bonk Giffon on the head when he wasnt looking. As they grew up, these traits continued, Grriffon would steal pies, candies, Ale from his Father's Bar, anything he could get his hands on. It even became somewhat of a joke around town that if something was lost or "mis-placed" , all you need to do is " Go talk to Grriffon".

To say his parents didnt care for this behavior is a HUGE understatement. They soon would have disowned him, if he didnt one day come home and announce he had joined the infamous Rogues Guild and would be leaving home, likely forever. His parents were not suprised, if anything somewhat releived. Now they could leave things around without worry of them "disappearing". Grriffon and his brother said their good-byes, parting on friendly terms, and he set out from Rivervale to try his skills. Before he left, his brother brought him aside to a secluded corner of Rivervale, asking to have a final talk with him. Something to this affect.....

"Grriffon, it's no suprise to me that you joined the Rogues. I knew it was only a matter of time, even if Mom and Dad didnt. Even though I dont agree with what you do, I know you are good at it, great even, and I do not doubt that some day, I shall hear tales of Grriffon The Blackguard or even Grriffon The Deceiver, told around a glass of Ale down at the Tavern. But you are my Brother, and I do not wish you to leave home un-prepared."

And with these words Giffon gave to Grriffon a rather large bag of Plainum and many rogueish items.

"Use these well, Brother, and think of me from time to time"
With this, they hugged and Grriffon set out from Rivervale, never looking back.

lemme know what you guys think of these!

On our last Tale Grriffon set out from Rivervale, with his newfound wealth, and Roguely proffesion.

Grriffon was very thankful of these gifts his brother had bestowed to him, and determined to use them well. He decided to spend his early days adventuring close to the friendly, if somewhat "Rogue-skittish" guards of Misty Thicket". He knew that while adventuring was the life for him, it could be a dangerous job, and Rogues are not the 3-Ton Bench Pressing Behmoths that Warriors or Paladins are, NOR do they have the advantage of powerful spells and the ability to hit monsters from a distance that the Druids and other spell-casters do (finger-wigglers as Grriffon would say) . No, Rogues have only a sharp dagger and their wits to aid them on their travels, and if you notice, many are not suited to this Roguley life, and shie away from the difficulty it entails.

SO, Grriffon began to Hide behind trees and Sneak from here to there, knowing these skills would aid him , later down the road. When given the opportunity he would attack unsuspecting Spiderlings, Rats, and other small creatures to help him down the EXP road (even though he was not quite sure what EXP was, he knew he like "gaining levels, and that odd "Ding, you have gained a level" sounds he would sometimes get after many Critter Kills). Sometimes Grriffon would be able to convince a Mighty Druid to cast a Damage Shield on him, allowing him to kill many creatures he otherwise would quickly die to. And so passed his first 13 Seasons as a Rogue, killing and hunting in Misty Thicket.

One day he noticed how easy these Goblins and Orcs were becoming to kill, and longed for more difficult challenges. While he was pondering this he came across a HUGE creature with green skin, a pointed nose, and warts everywhere! Why...this looked like...a TROLL!! IT WAS a troll!!! Grriffon was face to face with a real live Troll, such as those from the Rivervale Fairy Tales that ate naugty young Hobbits that didnt finish their Jum-Jum. Not knowing what else to do Grriffon waved his daggers ( he now had learned to "Duel-Wield 2 weapons at once) at this HUGE creature...

The Troll Bimbolou looked down at the young Hobbit Grriffon (somewhat hungrily) and laughed as he waved his daggers at her. She was in Misty Thicket on some business or another and wasnt REALLY interested in eating this Hobbit.....but if he persisted in this foolery......

"Hobbit, I have shoes older than you, step out of my way before i decide you are worth the effort to roast on my new Spit."

"You shall not eat ME TROLL! I am a Rogue and will plant my daggers in your Back!! oh.....by the way....what is that <Keepers of the Glade> sign doing floating over your head??"

"HAHA, you truly are a newbie, Hobbit. Keepers of the Glade is my guild. I am a officer of this guild. Perhaps we could allow a brave, if somewhat newbie, Rogue such as yourself to join, if you are truly interested."

"A Guild? I have heard of these "Guilds" in those odd "OOC" messages that sometimes float across my view.....I would very much like to join one Troll."

And with this, Grriffon became a Keeper of the Glade, and opened a whole new chapter in his Tale.....

when we last left Grriffon he had met the Troll Bimbolou and joined the Guild Keepers of the Glade, opening a new chapeter in his Tale....

Grriffon quickly realized how fortunate he was to have come across this Troll. Through he Guild he was meeting all sorts of other Adventurers. He was pledged to aid them, as they were to him. This was TRULY a great idea, to bring together those Adventurers of like mind to aid each other in their travels. Grriffon soon became introduced to other Trolls such as Sestuss the Guild-Leader, Kythkin the Gnome, Iane a powerful Wood-Elf Druid, and even some Dark Elf Necromancers such as Jaxnor and Alouzon. Grriffon especially liked teasing Jaxnor, even though Jax was FAR more experienced and well-travled than him, Grriffon would talk a big fight, accusing Jax of being a "Grape" while Jax would call him a "Garden-Gnome". Grriffon even painted him helmet red in the continuing joke they had about his Pointy Red Hat.

One day Grriffon came across a creature even larger than the Troll he had first met. This creature was named Crondicular, and was a Ogre. Cron and Grrif soon became good friends. Crondicular was a 50-something Season Shadow Knight , and took Grriffon under his wing, showing him around Norrath. During their travels Grriffon realized how similar they were, and how words the Ogre used seemed so much more suited to his personality than the propper Grammar they taught in Rivervale. He bagan to use words like "werds" , "gud, "bonk", "smash, smoosh sqoosh". He learned how fun it was to BONK these un-suspecting creatures him and Cron would come across. He began to come in touch with his Inner Ogre.

One day after many keels and bonks, Crondicular was so pleased with his leetle Hobbit friend that he took him to Oggok, his home-town, to introduce him to the Ogre-Leaders. When they got there, Crondicular had to quickly convince them that Grriffon was NOT lunch and that they could NOT eat OR bonk him....that this was a special Hobbit, one who liked Ogres, liked to Bonkand Smash. He told the Leaders that Grriffon wantd to become a Honorary Ogre and that Crondicular himself would vouch for him.

The Ogre-Leaders were much confused by this. Never before had a Hobbit not run in fear from them, much less wanted to become a Honorary Ogre. They had Grriffon demonstrate his love for Bonking, his Ogre vocabulary, and his ability to KEEL things. They decided that this was a truly special Hobbit and granted him the status of Honary Ogre-Hobbit. He would be welcomed by Ogres ALLMOST where ever he went...(some Ogres were TRULY slow and could not even read the Official Ogre Status Card Grriffon kept handy for such meetings).

AND SO, Grriffon became a Honorary Ogre and passed many more Season Bonking and Bashing Critters.....

When last we left Grriffon he had just become an Honorary Ogre with Crondicular's help and was continuing to bash and bonk his way across Norrath. This brings him to his 25th Season as a Rogue of Bristlebane, and here we will pick up.

Grriffon had his fill of the bandits and fungal creatures in the legendary Caverns of Paludal and heard of great hunts going on in High Keep Hold. Not having the advantages of the mystical "Ports" his brother has he began to hoof his way back to Rivervale, since it is how one gets to High Keep. While home he stopped to spend a little time in his home town. He stopped by the Fool's Gold Inn, saying hello to some of the young hobbits he had grown up with. His brother, they said, was off on some druidly errand, and not home to greet him. While at the Inn he made his way to the upper rooms where the Guild Master Rogues stayed most of their time. He spent quite some time with Rueppy Cutpurse training in the skill of Pick Pocketing. Grriffon found VERY much satisfaction in the "releiving" of other people's hard earned loot. He also earned his Sirname, which he chose to be RibTickler, as he would "tickle" the ribs of his foes with his daggers. After his training and restocking of supplies he made his way to Kithicor Forest which he QUICKLY ran through, having heard of the powerful undead that called the Forest home after dark. He made it to the zone with no undead after him and soon found himself in High Hold Keep. He beagin to make his way through the Keep to the basement mines where the High Keep citizens had dug too deeply and unearthed a Goblin Lair. He began to strap on his gear and sharpen his daggers as he made his way down. He soon found the Basement, but apparently, many other adventurers had heard of the Goblin threat here and were camped in the Basement killing any Goblin unfortunate enough to be seen by them. Grriffon tried asking if any of the groups needed his services, but apparently, all were full. So he began to camp there by himself, waiing for the stray Goblin to wander his way, attacking it before it made it to the groups. Soon a red and black Froglok came to him in a foul mood, saying that he was killing the Frogloks' Goblins. Grriffon tried explaining to the Froglok that he would not kill very many of the Goblins, he just wanted to share them with everyone. The Froglok, however, was not interested in sharing. He told Grriffon to duel him for the right to stay in the Basement or to leave now. Grriffon, not being one to back down from such a direct challenge, accepted.
He knew that in a direct battle the Froglok Warrior would easily defeat him. But he also knew that his Rogue training had taught him how to duck into the shadows, even in a fight, and become invisible. This invisibilt would allow him to perform powerful BackStabs at his leisure on the unsuspecting Froglok....or so he thought. He begain the fight standing toe to toe with the clearly more powerful Warrior, but as he became more and more injured, he Evaded the fight, ducking into the shadows of invisibility. To his great suprise and distress the Froglok Warrior laughed and struck him through his invisibilty, bringing him back to the light. Laughing scornfully, the Froglok told Grriffon that a magical peice of his gear allowed him to See Invisible creatures and players. Grriffon knew he was defeated. Hanging his head in shame, he fled the zone, never to come to High Keep again.

Grriffon at first felt very sorry for himself, feeling that perhaps he wasnt cut out for the Rogue class AFTER all. If he could not finger-wiggle like the caster Classes or the Strength and Durability of the other Melee classes, then what DID he have? He decided he would stick it out for a while longer and see what the Rogue Class could offer him. He also learned that everything is not allways as it seems, and to never rely too heavily on any one skill to bring him thru a battle. All in all, it was a good day, there were creatures elsewhere to kill, he did not need these Goblins. Grriffon made his way to the Southern Plains of the Karanas feeling beeter and wiser for his trip to High Keep.

---The Continuing Tales of Grriffon the Rogue---

when we last left our leetle Hobbit-Ogre, he had learned not to be over-confident, and was continuing to travel the world. This brings him to about his 35th season in his Roguely life. Here we shall pick up again.

Grriffon was fortunate enough to meet a group of adventurers in his guid, all about the same level as him. He soon became fast-friends with Flinteye the Cleric, Sindu the Kitty-Warrior, and Wizenoch The Enchanter. Together they made quite a team! they began hunting together quite often!

First the group made thei way to The Overthere and began their slaughter of Sarnaks, Sabre-toothed Tigers, Living Cactuses, and any other unfortunate creetur to wander across their path! In this manner the 4 of them came to allmost their 39th seasons without much incident. Their "leader" Flinteye was ALLWAYS training them to work better together so that, once they gained the necessary experince to travel to other Planes, they would work together well enough to take on those truly fearsome creeturs that lived there.

Soon Overthere began to become too easy for the adventurers and they packed up camp and traveled to The Dread Lands. The band of adventurers set up camp near Karnors Castle and began to hunt the skeery Chicken/Leezard Birds, Dog-Faces, Giants, and Spider-Grapes that roamed the area. Needless to say, there were many deaths in theese Dreaded Lands, but the quartet perserveered! They all made their way (very slowly, but surely) to their 44th seasons and began to dabble in other areas as well!
Soon they all found magical Water Breathing devices and were killing at the bottom of Ill Omen Lakes!! They all found the bright blue and red Goblins at the bottom of the Lake quite funny and enjoyed how good at Swimming they soon bacame!
Not many exciting things happened to our Ogre-Hobbit in this portion of his life. He once heard someone refer to their travels and hunting as a slow "grind". Grriffon thought this was a good word for his slow rise to an Experienced Assassin, a "Grind". SO, he continued to grind through his early 40's Seasons, waiting for the day he would be able to enter The Planes of Power!
Perhaps in our next Tale Grriffon will have made his way to the Planes and will have more Tales to tell........

When i clicked back to check this, it came back to a blank post. Needless to say I was fairly PO'ed and will not be re-writing it tonight or for a couple days, LOL. SO, JOO guys write some stories so *I* can read them while getting over my long post being eaten by the Computer Gremlins!!!

----The Continuing Tales of Grriffon the Rogue----

Whe last we left our "Treasure Hunting" friend he was "grinding" along in the Dread Lands, killing piles and piles of dog-faces and Grape-Spiders.

On one kill, much like any of the others, Grriffon heard that mysterious "DING!" again and was welcomed into his 46th Season as a Rogue. He could now muscle his way past those annoying Bouncers that carded eveyone trying to enter the Plane of Tranquility. But Grriffon knew the Planes of Power were VERY dangerous places! He knew he must continue his "grind" in the Dread Lands for a little more, to make sure he was ready for these dangerous new hunting grounds.

Some days later, Grriffon's Ogre Buddies, Gingerbreadmann and Crondicular invited him to come along with them to hunt in the Plane of Nightmare. Grriffon gladly accepted and met up with the 2 Ogres and the rest of their hunting party. Grriffon soon realized just HOW dangerous these Planes were!! Once after Back Stabbing one of the very nasty Trees in Nightmare, his Evade failed him and he was hit twice , for 350 damage, very quick, before he could limp away. Luckily the Cleric saw his grave injuries and Healed his mortal wounds as Crondicular Taunted the evil creature to leave the little Hobbit alone and fight someone its own size. Grriffon could not beleive the strength of these creatures! He resolved to be MUCH more careful, since he wished to live to be a Wise Old Hobbit-Ogre.

So....Grriffon continued to fight with his Friends and Guildmates, passing the last of his 40's Seasons very quickly. On another seemingly monotonous kill, Grriffon heard the "DING!" again and was mysteriously and miraculously trasformed into a.....a.......a RAKE! Grriffon wasn't quite sure how a Rogue could come to be called a Garden Instrument but decided to go along with things. He found ALL of his Skills increasing VERY rapidly now after his Garden-Transformation. Skills he'd previously thought he'd Mastered, now seemed childishly easy, and he began to learn ways to better them. All in all the Rake was becoming a much more formiddable adversary, slowly but surely. He continued to hunt these Planes of Power with his Friends, growing stronger by the day.

A Special New Chapter today!

A Necro and his Duck get Lost and Noble Rogue saves the Day! hehehe

The Keepers of the Glade massed outside the gates of Chardok. Warriors began to sharpen swords and casters meditated, all preparing for a long battle. As more and more Keepers arrived they orgnaized and preapred themselves for the assault deep into Chardok, into the dangerous Throne Room of the Di'Zok Royal Family. Each member of this grotesque Family had some signifigant trewasure or loot the Keepers needed and they were determined to get it! During all the preparation Grriffon helped himself to a few Pick Pocketings as he allways does. Most come to Raids with empty Pockets since they know his ways too well, so they did not mind, much.

The Keepers began their decent nito Chardok, scattering Sarnaks and their warders everywhere as they rushed toward the Royal Castle. After much fighting, but no deaths, the band of adventurers stood before the great Family home of Di'Zok. Here Grriffon would earn his keep!

All knew that the Bridge was Trapped and that the very ground would explode underneath anyone who tread there without the aid of a skilled Rogue. Grriffon began to make his way toward the bridge, sweating at the thuoght of the huge Sarnaks and the Magical Trap awaiting him. He began to Sneak very stealthily, trying to Sense any Traps as he went. For some time he could not find the Trap he knew was there, but eventually, allmost right before he stepped on it, he found the dangerous Trap and began cutting wires (it IS the BLUE wire not the red one!! =P ) until he Disarmed it and it was safe for everyone to cross. So the Keepers were into the Royal Castle, but their work was just begun. As they cleared their way to the Throne Room where Prince Di'Zok spent his time Grriffon readied his Magical LockPicks, since the Prince never left his room open to the public. As the brave Keepers kept all the Sarnaks away from him Grriffon set to work on the Lock. Being the master Lock Picker he is, the puny Lock soon gave way to his Talents and the Keepers rushed into the room to seal the Prince's fate. Though surrounded by viscious Guards and being a powerful Sorceror himself, Prince Di'Zok was no match for the combined might of the Keepers. He soon fell to the ground with a loud THUD, and his loot was ours! As they celebrated Grriffon se to work on the Lock again, freeing their way to head farther nito the citadel, towards Overking Bathezid, and possibly even his truly formiddable wife.

As they neared the Overking chambers, Mighty Masin warned all once again that there was a Trap here no Rogue could Disarm. A portion of the floor was only illusion, actually being a gaping hole that one could fall into, landing right at the feet of the Overking. Thinking all listened and heeded Masin, Grriffon began to Pick yet another Lock that stood between the Keepers and their victory.

Apparently Jaxnor's Duck Howard was talking his head off and giving bad directions because Jaxnor somehow fell through the hole in the floor and landed right at the Overking's feet. Apparently Jax had killed some friends of King Bathezid's in The Overthere because Bathezid made quick work of him.

Now what to do?! the Necromancer and his Duck were in the VERY chambers of the powerful King! Surrounded by many of his most trusted Guardsmen! Who would be Brave enough to rescue this poor Wrongway Necromancer??! Who, you say? Why, Grriffon of course! Using his Stealthy Rogue Ways he Snuck his way down right to the feet of the Overking and the body of poor Jaxnor. After making a few rude gestures and getting the consent of Jaxnor to drag his pretty smelly corpse, Grriffon returned to the rest of the Keepers where Mighty Masin could Ressurect him. Yes, yes, Grriffon saved the Necromancer who allways tried to shave his feet and call him a Gnome. For now he would allways have something to bring up when Jaxnor pulled out those DISGUSTING Cheesy Griffon Casseroles.

And so, the Brave Adventurers killed the Mighty Overking and got his Precious Scrolls. Never mind what happened afterwards, the important deeds had allready been accomplished, and the poor Lost Necromancer Saved.

---The Continued Tales of Grriffon the Rogue---

When last we left our Brave Rogue he was saving a poor Lost Necro and his Duck. After his rescue Grriffon continued to hunt in the Planes of Power. here is another Tale of his deeds.

Grriffon was hunting in the Plane of Disease, a foul, smelly, ODD looking place with a bad investation or beetles and spiders. He was "lvl" 59, a Blackguard. He has had Blackguard floating around his name for quite some time now and is ready for a change. So Grriffon backstabs his little heart out, killing the monsters quite quickly and before you know it something says DING! Welcome to level 60! Now after his Happy Dance Grriffon notices he is a *gasp* Assassin!!

Now keep in mind Grriffon allways dreamed of becoming as Assassin some day. While his brother Giffon and other family and friends dreamed of druids and Storm Wardens all Grriffon could think of was the proud Assassins stalking the shadows and dealing death swiftly with their Ragebringers. And now he was one. He just Had to go try our his newfound battle prowess somewhere.

Grriffon traveled through the Plane of Knowledge and through the bleek Great Divide into the frozen Eastern Wastes where he found a fortress of Ry'Gorr Orcs. Grriffon stealthily crept up behind one and backstabbed him as he had so many times in the past and.....*gasp* *shock* Grriffon ASSASSINATES his victim!! You backstab a Ry'Gorr Centurion for 32,000 damage. As Grriffon tries to pick up his chin off the ground and wipe the slobber off his dagger he realizes his new power. Any creature that walks on 2 legs may be killed by one skilled stab from his dagger. Grriffon continues to Assassinate unsuspecting Orcs who died without ever knowing what hit them. Grriffon can barely contain his joy! He soon finds a group of adventurers heading to the old ruins of Seblilis where he can continue these Assassinations.

Truly now Grriffon is coming into his power. He has Mastered the arts of Making Poison and The Fury of Combat. In the right conditions he drops monsters to their deaths instantly. He deals damage even to Non-Humanoid monsters that few others can compete with. .........

and yet he still steals everything he can get his hands on!! =\ some fellers will just NEVER learn i guess......

The Continuing Tales of Grriffon the Rogue

Whe last we left Grriffon he had just learned the art of Assassinating his victims. Needless to say, this brought him great joy , and wealth. With only a little more seasoning Grriffon took his skills to the Bastion of Thunder.

Karana, the Rainkeeper god, has been placed under an enchanted sleep. Evil giants now roam his realm. And these evil giants are rich! =D Grriffon could not beleive the wealth and experience each kill of these fiends brought him. He was gaining new powers all the time!

Soon he learned the Ancient Rogue Secret of The Shroud of Stealth. This Shroud allows truly skilled Rogues to pass monsters that usually See Invisible creatures, undetected. No other can make the Stealth of such a Rogue. Of course, Grriffon went back to Kael and slapped those pesky Bridge Guards who allways gave him such problems in his youth.

Grriffon also learned the secrets of Escape. With this trick of his sleeve Grriffon could Escape any combat situation, no matter how many monsters were after him, and become Invisible, rendering him safe from harm.

To be certain, Grriffon's powers were ever increasing, and soon he even gained the Honored Rank of Deceiver. His name would be placed with the finest Rogue's to ever Pick a Pocket in Norrath! Oh how proud his parents would be! errrr........well......maybe not, but how proud he was of himself!! He declared The Bastion of Thunder his offcial Stomping Grounds and spent as much time there as he could, even though many unsavory people frequented the area.

Grriffon has since gone on to win gems, platinum, and Magic Armor and Goodies for himself and his friends. He continues to grow stronger with each passing day......allthough the Trophy of the Master Poison Maker still eludes him.........and he still has trouble solo'ing a Bixie if he doesnt Sneak up behind them first.........

No matter, to this day, Grriffon stomps the Bastion in search of wealth and experience, still stopping to rob a innocent druid or shaman or two along the way. Never has he had so much fun being a Thief, and there are still so many things yet to steal and conquer!
