Need and will help

Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a few (like 20-50 maybe) shaman DS potions. Probably the cheap ones. If anyone need to work up thier skill I would be happy to help fund it. They cost ~10pp for the components (from what I have read). The skill required is 52 for the Kilva's Blistering Flesh (DS potion, 14 minutes, playerlevel/4 + 1 DS)

Also, I have just under 200 skill in brewing and baking and would be happy to make food or beer (I just use fuz cutter 5ks for water) for anyone that needs it at cost of components. I don't mind the clicking as I just do it while watching TV.

Also, there are a few quest items I think I can make with both skills. Just let me know if you need something and we can go find the ingredients and get it made for you. The real uber items require skill of 250 and we will have to find someone that has taken the plunge for that.

[Q] Anyone have any comments on what skill I would master? Preferable one that will make me some money. Smiling

Baking vs. Brewing

PoP kind of screwed 200+ brewers over. Bakers got all kinds of nice stat foods and quest foods, brewers got 1 upgraded recipe (same stats, double life span used in massive 1750 Tradeskill earring quest -- think uber solstice earring but it's all nodrop so you have to make everything), 1 pure quest recipe (for the Intermediate Combat Manual) and the standard temper addidtions you'd expect.

Baking
- More stuff that's sellable
- More stuff you can skill on that's sellable
- 200+ generally involves many sub combines and multi item combines (Misty Thicket Picnic and Halas Meat Pie), but result is usable / sellable
- Lots more 201+ bakers

Brewing
- Less stuff that's sellable
- Less stuff you can skill on that's sellable (General path is Mino Hero Brew to 248 -- drink or resell to merchant)
- 200+ generally involves massive multi item combines (9 items on Mino Hero's Brew)
- Less 201+ brewers, so less competition on what's sellable

Sorry Darkvane, you are screwed on tradeskills.

Ya, that's what I thought... Any ideas on fletching or smithing?

Edit: I have found that I can get 10dose potions for what I need at just over cost, so until I can't find them anymore I'll jsut get them there and let someone else get carple tunnel syndrom.

I wouldn't say you're screwed over but right now:

Money Required for a Tradeskill = Profit + Time required to turn a profit
Money = Time farming items or farming plat

If you want money from tradeskill stop now. (not that you can't make money on tradeskills but with the time and costs you likely going to farm cash faster)

Tradeskills serve four purposes:

1. To make something for your self.
2. To make something for a friend/guild.
3. To have a change of pace from normal killing.
4. To say you did it.

Profit on the side having reached whatever skill should be an afterthought unless there's a special reason (new server or new recipe is how people get rich on tradeskills)

Just FYI, brewing is pretty easy to do from 188-248. I spent probably 200pp getting it to 248. And probably another 200pp getting it from 248-250. The climb to 248 can all be done in one room in Halas, as there are two close merchants to supply all the Mino's ingredients. Just be prepared for some carpel-tunnel(sp?) clicking of 9 item combines, avg about 20 combines per skill up.

248-250 for me was done between PoK and Kaladim, creating the Kaladim Constitutionals that still sell fairly well in the Bazaar.

I hate farming plat, and I give away half the items I get that I should be selling. Oh well, I guess I'll become a super brewer just so I can get drunk in less time. I suspect that a few of the stat items sell ok in bazaar.

Off to make some Short Beers and Minotaur Hero's Brews. Next stop 248 in brewing.

Edit: hehe Masin posted while I was still typing. Thanks Masin. I think that's going to be my path also. Don't know if I'm KOS in Halas (although I suspect I am just like everywhere else I go. hehe) I'll have to find a nice spot somewhere in eq.
