I was thinking lately, and had trouble finding, all the different skills/abilities that races get. I think that this list could be invaluable for people thinking about making new characters. For example, a cleric may want to choose Halfling for the sneak and hide as they're the only casters/priests to not get a general invis...or a Necro may want to play an Iksar for regen. Also, for RPers, other skills may be important, such as language. So I tried to make a complete list:
Dark Elf: Hide, Ultravision, Languages: Elvish, Dark Elvish and I think 50 in High Elf
High Elf: Infravision, High Elvish
Wood Elf: Infravision, Hide, Forage, Elvish.
Half Elf: Infravision, Elvish?
Halfling: Hide, Sneak, Infravision, Halfling Language
Human: None (hahaha!! Well....they're only one of two that can play monk...)
Troll: Regen, Bash (I think), Trollish (is there a technical name for that?)
Ogre: Slightly faster regen, or so I hear...Bash, can't stun from the front, Infra, Ogrelanguage
Iksar: Regen, Infra, 100 swim (or is it 50?), Forage, Iksar language
Van Shir: Their cats (-: ,Infravision, speak Van Shir, safe fall, The old combine language...
Dwarves: Dwarfism..., infra, dwarfish
Gnome: Tinker, gnomish.
Northsmen (come now, is it propper to call them barbarians?): Bash, barbarian.
I'm 100% sure that I missed something, and 90% sure I probably missed something huge. If I did, please correct me (-:
Also, I'm going to do some more thinking and add another thread for races that get good quests (IE that DE Cleric quest for the item which casts snare) that are easy to start out, or have good cultural armor (IE Brell for AC stuff, and Tunare for bows). However, the cultural armor I think is well known within this guild since we have so many high tradesmen, and more people probably know more about it. But, if I look and think we could use more info, I'll post. (-:
My end goal, stated above, is to help with character selection. I realize that there are quite a few sites that have sections devoted to this...but few take in such a big perspective. If you go to castersrealm, you'll read which have better stats, and stuff, but its different when you throw all of the peices in together (IE castersrealm did NOT include abilities). To really find out about what race I wanted to be for a particular class, I really had to do quite a bit of research and board searching and stuff. So, in the end, this will be helpful to many.
