This came off the VG boards, which I think Blinxs got it from anthre board.
Thought it might help some.

Here's something I posted in our members section but thought maybe your members might benefit from it too...

Some time ago I did a comparison between the lower level spells that Enchanters and Shaman get. I would like to add on to that original comparison and see how the percentages add up with the higher level spells. The following is the original message tweaked a bit with the updated spells and poison based slows added.

For a while I had been wondering what the difference was between the Enchanter’s slow and the Shaman’s slow. After doing a bit of research this is what I found out... some very interesting information everyone should know.

The two lower level spells are both magic based (uses Magic Resist check):

Enchanter
Shiftless Deeds
Level – 44
Duration – 2 minutes 12 seconds to 3 minutes 18 seconds
Effects – Decrease Attack Speed by 49% (L44) to 65% (L60)
Description – This spell decreases the rate at which an enemy attacks.

Shaman
Togor's Insects
Level – 39
Duration – 2 minutes to 3 minutes 18 seconds
Effects – Decrease Attack Speed by 49% (L39) to 70% (L60)
Description – This spell decreases the rate at which an enemy attacks.
This spell begins at 49% and raises 1% per level to a maximum of 70%.

The two higher level spells are both magic based as well:
Enchanter
Forlorn Deeds
Level: 57
Duration: 2.9 mins @L57 to 3.3 mins @L65
Actual Effectsecrease Attack Speed by 67% (L57) to 70%
(L60)
Description:This is an upgrade to shiftless deeds.
It slows down the taret's attack speed by up to 70%.

Shaman
Turgur's Insects
Level: 51
Duration: 5.1 mins @L51 to 6.5 mins @L65
Actual Effectsecrease Attack Speed by 66% (L51) to 75%
(L60)
Description:This is an upgrade to Togor's Insects. This
spell is the most powerful slowing spell in the game, beating the Enchanters Forlorn Deeds spell by 5%.

All four spells are very similar but it's the caster’s level that determines the amount of slow that hits.

Here is a crude formula to follow for the lower level spells:

Enchanter add 5 to the caster’s level to get % of slow
Ie: 47 level caster = 52% slow
2 minutes 12 seconds to 3 minutes 18 seconds

Shaman add 10 to the caster’s level to get % of slow
Ie: 47 level caster = 57% slow
2 minutes to 3 minutes 18 seconds

So a 42nd level Shaman’s Slow is equal to the 47th level Enchanter’s. The Enchanter would have to be 6 or more levels higher than the Shaman to have better slows.

For the higher level spells follow this formula:

Enchanter add 10 to the caster’s level to get % of slow
Ie: 60 level caster = 70% slow (max)

Shaman add 15 to the caster’s level to get % of slow
Ie: 57 level caster = 72% slow

So a 55th level Shaman’s Slow is equal to the 60th level Enchanter’s.

Now this isn’t even taking into consideration the Shaman’s Poison based slows. Though they aren’t as good as the magic based, when fighting a high MR mob 40% is better than nothing! It’s best to land a poison based first on the high MR mob then overwrite with a magic based.

Name: Plague of Insects
Level: 54
Class: Conjuration
Resist Checkisease
Duration: 2.7 mins @L54 to 3.3 mins @L65
Actual Effects:Increase Disease Counter by 7
Decrease Attack Speed by 25%
Description:While the slow on this is not even close to the magic based slows, this is Disease based. This means that the spell will land much more easily than the magic based line on most mobs. It also works very well with the disease resist debuffs of the Necromancer and Shaman class.

Name: Cloud of Grummus
Level: 61
Class: Conjuration
Resist Checkisease
Duration: 3.1 mins @L61 to 3.3 mins @L65
Actual Effectsecrease Attack Speed by 40%
Increase Disease Counter by 16

Description: Whilst this is nowhere near as powerful as the magic based slow spells the Shaman has, it is still highly useful due to being based on disease resistance. This means that the spell will land much more easily than the magic based line on most mobs. It also works very well with the disease resist debuffs of the Necromancer and Shaman class. This spell can also be cast until a magic based slow can land, which will then overwrite the disease based slow.

HOWEVER...

On the other hand let’s look at Haste!

Haste is a bit more straightforward than Slows.

Shaman
Level 29 Quickness, 30%
Level 44 Alacrity, 40%
Level 56 Celerity, 50%
Level 63 Swift like the Wind, 60%

Enchanter
Level 16 Quickness, 30%
Level 24 Alacrity, 40%
Level 29 Augmentation, 28% + stats
Level 39 Celerity, 50%
Level 49 Swift Like the Wind, 60%
Level 53 Aanyas Quickening, 64%
Level 56 Augment, 47% + Stats
Level 58 Wonderous Rapidity, 70%
Level 60 Visions of Grandeur, 58% + Stats
Level 60 Speed of the Brood, 66% + Stats
Level 62 Speed of Vallon,
Actual Effects: Increase Agility by 52
Increase Dexterity by 33
Increase ATK by 41
Increase Attack Speed by 68%

Even with the loss of 2% on the attack speed with SoV, it’s still faster than the Shaman’s fastest haste spell plus it comes with added stats! These stats really make up for that 2% loss.

Conclusion:
Depending on the level of the Shaman they should always be your slower however the Enchanter is the master of hasting.

I hope this helps everyone understand the differences between these two classes spells.
