I have a p4 2.4ghz with 512 ram. I have no lag anywhere when sound is disabled in options. When I enable sound, my zoning time goes way up and the longer I am logged on the worse the lag gets until I can't even open a bag in inventory or I go LD. Doesn't seem to be zone related. It is the same with onboard sound and with a Santa Cruz, Turtle Beach sound card.
I would sure appreciate any help if someone else has ran into this problem.

You might want to try turning down sound realisim in game (CTRL-O I think). Try turning it down real low and see what it does.
Normally I would imagine this would be a sound driver problem but the same problem on two different sound cards tells me it's not.
Also, you might want to do a "complete file check" in the EQ launcher program to make sure you don't have corrupted sound files (a few months back EQ had problems with corrupted sound files and certain sound cards).
